Winchester 1866 .44 cal. SN 36014 engraved lever action rifle. Scroll engraved receiver, forend cap, crescent trapdoor buttplate, signed LDN on bottom of receiver. Rifle remains very good overall condition beginning with barrel which shows brown pati lever action rifle. Rifle remains very good overall condition beginning with barrel which shows brown patina with areas of gray, some very light and scattered pin prick pitting, barrel address "Kings Improvement" sharp and clear. Fixed with silver blade front sight, rear fixed open sight. Magazine tube retains 50-60% original blue drifting to plum. Engraved receiver displays an unpolished honey colored patina, side plated with excellent fit up and consistent with forend cap and buttplate. Walnut stocks good with typical scattered dings, mares, rear stock sitting low on metal in areas however on visible cracks or repairs and fitted with sling swivel. Right side has unengraved small brass plaque inset measuring 1 1/4" long. Hammer shows some visible case color, remainder gray to plum, lever with deep brown patina on sides, bottom silvery gray. A beautiful rifle fresh from a local South Dakota ranching family where it has been for many years. Action is firm the bore showing good rifling with even light erosion throughout, much may clean. Manufactured 1870, NO FFL required.
