Willy Helwig, Seven Illustrations, Germany, around 1910/20
The seven illustrations by artist Willy Helwig depict different motifs with relating titles. All illustrations are monogrammed ‘W.H.’ and created around 1910/20. They are all titeled as follows: ‘Wanda’, ‘Lucky Beggar’ (Glückspilz), ‘The Gas machine’ (Der Gasautomat), ‘Muted Joy’ (Gedämpfter Jubel), ‘The Kastellan’, ‘Ultima Ratio Reginae’ (554).



On the back differently numbered with pencil. On the front upper right the respective image measurements were noted with pencil. The sheets are in good condition, showing slight traces of age and wear. The paper is slightly browned and stained. The corners show minimal traces of crease marks. Partially there are former prepatory drawings discernible. The sheets measure 22.5 x 31 cm.



Willy Helwig

The artist Willy Helwig, born 1879 in Hamburg, worked as an illustrator and painter and also teached at an Art school in Berlin. He created numerous illustrations on children´s books. His son is the well-known author Werner Helwig.
