Born Gerhardt Anthony Steffen on February 13, 1891 in San Francisco, CA. Ritchie was working the corner for a friend when asked to sub for a prelim fighter who never showed. Fearing his mother would disapprove, he agreed only if his real name wasn't used. Hence, he turned pro as Willie Ritchie in 1907. Three different vintage signed photos, one glossy 8 x 10, one glossy 10 x 8, and one 8.5 x 11 lightweight photo, each signed and inscribed in fountain pen to former boxer Packey O’Gatty. Scattered light creases and surface marks to all three photos, otherwise fine condition.
