Two books: a first edition of Crowded Years: The Reminiscences of William G. McAdoo, hardcover, published by Houghton Mifflin in 1931, signed and inscribed on the first free end page in bold fountain pen, "To Gilbert Brown, with my warm regard and best wishes, W. G. McAdoo, 1932"; and a first edition of Julia and the White House, hardcover with dust jacket, published by Dodd, Mead & Company in 1946, signed on the first free end page in fountain pen, "Eleanor Wilson McAdoo." In very good to fine condition, with wear to the covers and loss to the Eleanor dust jacket. William Gibbs McAdoo played a major role in Woodrow Wilson's presidency, working on his successful 1912 campaign and subsequently being named Secretary of the Treasury; he married Wilson's daughter Eleanor, the author of Julia and the White House, in 1913.
