The work on hand ‘Lover’ is a giclee print by the contemporary artist William Wegman dating to 2002. It depicts his dog Fay Ray seated in a bed with a panda cuddly toy. The constructed composition serves to question human day to day mannerisms in a humoristic fashion. The Weimaraner in Wegman’s work have become somewhat of an icon.



The work is in very good condition. It is signed lower right in black ink with ‘William Wegman 2002’ and numbered lower left with ‘6/7’. The dimensions of the sheet are 89 x 88 cm and the dimensions framed are 107 x 107 cm.



William Wegman (b. 1943)

William Wegman was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1943. In 1965 he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and in 1967 his Masters of Fine Arts at the University of Illinois. He had his first solo show in Paris in 1971 at the Galerie Sonnabend. In 1972 he took part in the Documenta 5 in Kassel and in 1976 he was also part of Documenta 6. His Weimaraner dogs Man Ray and Fay Ray create the subject of his works. He often depicts them dressed as humans´. His works have been shown in galleries and museums around the globe, including the Modern Museum of Art in New York.
