Renowned British physicist and engineer (1824–1907) who is widely known for determining the correct value of absolute zero. Absolute temperatures are stated in units of kelvin in his honor. LS signed “Kelvin,” one page, 4.25 x 7, personal letterhead, November 8, 1906. Letter to W. James Wintle. In full: “I thank you very much for your copy of Part I of the Harmsworth Atlas and Gazateer, which you have kindly sent me. Judging from the first instalment [sic] I believe it will be a very interesting and useful work. I shall be glad to become a subscriber for the whole work.” In fine condition, with a bit of light toning and some mild mirroring of letterhead above signature.
