American statesman and jurist (1784–1835) who served as postmaster general under Andrew Jackson; he was the only cabinet member to not resign in 1831 as a result of the Petticoat affair. Partly-printed DS, signed “W. T. Barry,” one page, 7.75 x 13, May 28, 1833. Interesting hand-corrected version of the "Regulations for the government of the Mail Arrangement on the great Atlantic Line from Washington, D.C. to Portland, Me., 1833," outlining the rules and regulations for mail transport between various eastern cities, as well as schedules for the same. Signed at the conclusion by Barry as postmaster general. In very good to fine condition, with scattered foxing, some minor paper loss, and a couple of short edge tears.
