<B>William Saroyan Typed Note Signed</B></I>, on orange postcard, 3.25" x 5.5", San Francisco, postmarked December 31, 1934, to Mr. H. Schuman, Detroit. At the time of this writing, Saroyan was a struggling 26-year-old short-story writer. Earlier in 1934, his breakthrough tale, "The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze," had appeared in <I>Story</B></I> magazine. Signed "<I>Wm Saroyan</B></I>" in blue pencil. The verso includes typed address of recipient and Saroyan's return street address written in blue pencil.
