Civil War–dated manuscript DS, one page, 15.25 x 9.75, December 26, 1862. A document headed “Inventory and Inspection Report of Ordnance and Ordnance Stores for which Capt Eli Song 4th Cavalry is responsible,” which reports six sets of horse equipment which are “old and worn out,” and to be thrown away. Endorsed on the reverse docketing panel by Rosecrans on January 11, 1863, “W. S. Rosecrans,” to forward the document to the correct department, and approved at the conclusion by Ripley on January 24, 1863, “Ja’s W. Ripley.” Intersecting folds with partial edge separations and light scattered soiling, otherwise fine condition.
