William Joseph Rakocy received his Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degrees at the Kansas City Art Institute. A resident of El Paso for over 30 years, Rakocy is an artist, author, and historian. His favorite subjects are the land, people, and history of El Paso and the surrounding countryside. Curator of Education at the El Paso Museum of Art and an award-winning artist, Rakocy is also the author of books on art, regional history and ghost towns.
