Yarborough—a first edition of On to Berlin: Battles of an Airborne Commander, 1943-1946, published by Viking Press in New York in 1978, hardcover with dust jacket, signed and inscribed on the half-title page in blue ink, "9/22/78, To Bill Yarborough, who started it all, with best regards, James Gavin." Includes a TLS from Gavin signed "Jim," one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, June 23, 1983, addressed to Yarborough, in part: "I just finished reading Bill Breuer’s book about Salerno. I was delighted to see that he dedicated the book to you, since you had so much to do with the entire airborne effort in the beginning." In overall very good to fine condition, with spotting to the textblock, and paper loss and wear to the dust jacket and binding edges.
