American sculptor (1861–1930) whose best-known works are the Shakespeare Monument in Chicago, the equestrian statue of General Grant in Brooklyn, the Pietà at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan, and the Pocahontas statue in Jamestown, Virginia. Two ALSs signed "Wm. Ordway Partridge," totaling four pages, circa 1899–1901. Two letters to American dramatic critic and author William Winter, inviting him to critique his sculptural busts: in the first, he requests "criticism upon my busts of Burns, Shelley, & Tennyson recently finished"; in the second, he again reiterates the request: "I would like your opinion of my works—especially the heads of Tennyson & Shelley." In overall fine condition, with a small split to one of the mailing folds. Each is accompanied by its original mailing envelope, addressed in Partridge's own hand.
