Vellum DS as president, one page, 15.75 x 19.5, December 26, 1899. President McKinley appoints Charles McClure, Jr. a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry. Boldly signed at the conclusion in black ink by McKinley, and countersigned by Secretary of War Elihu Root. In fine condition, with a bit of scattered light toning and wrinkles. The blue seal is slightly worn, but intact. McClure would die of dysentery while serving in the Philippines in 1901 and was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.
