<B>William McKinley: Giant Size Lithographed Tin "Tab" in Choice Condition.</B></I> We can still recall the buzz created when the first example of this item appeared for auction at an A.P.I.C. National in the early 1990s. It was one of the stars of the auction, and brought over $2000, in fierce bidding. Perhaps it was the publicity that resulted from that sale, but another five to ten examples have surfaced over the ensuing years. However, they usually exhibit some degree of surface wear or rust. This one is surely the finest known, virtually pristine with a gleaming surface. Interestingly, this example corrects a common misconception about some of the more battle-scarred examples: the light blue coloration around "McKinley" is often presumed to be the result of fading. However, it is clear from the present specimen that this subtle coloration was as intended by the manufacturer. Height 5.125".
