Note: The RHA index of exhibitors lists two Killarney works exhibited in 1864, A Summer's Day at Killarney - the Long Range [£50-0-0], no. 12 and On the Upper Lake, Killarney [£25-0-0], no. 32. It is possible that the latter is a match for this scene. A prolific if now neglected artist of the Victorian era, McEvoy was a regular exhibitor at the RHA from 1858 to 1880. Up until 1865 his subjects were mostly Dublin and Wicklow landscapes; after this date he moved to London and English subjects predominate. Strickland notes that "...he is not heard of" after 1880.
