Confederate major general (1826–1895) who distinguished himself during the siege of Petersburg. Engraved DS, signed “Wm. Mahone,” one page both sides, 10.75 x 7.25, July 5, 1872. A stock certificate for three shares in the Atlantic, Mississippi, & Ohio Railroad Company. In very good condition, with vertical folds, one through a single letter of signature, slight trimming to edges, and light scattered toning and handling wear.
