Men of Honor. 27" tall, 10" long, 9" wide. William M. Churchill, Jr. (Born 1936) is active/lives in California, Arizona. William Churchill Jr is known for Sculpture-wood carving, western. A successful businessman and former pilot, he became a full-time sculptor in the early 1990s. He and his wife Joyce had studied carving at the California Carvers guild near their home in Anaheim, and he also took classes at the Scottsdale Artists School. He prefers to work with Honduras mahogany, black walnut and jelutong because he loves the natural beauty of wood. His subjects range from saddles, to Indians, to wildlife, and he has been a participant in the Loveland Sculpture Show and the Mountain Oyster Show in Tucson. Education: Art studies include High School and College, classes by professional artists at the Scottsdale Artist's School in AZ, field trips in Korea and Japan, and various correspondence classes. Basically self-taught in the art of wood carving.
