Politician (1823-1878) most notable for being the ‘boss’ of Tammany Hall, the Democratic Party political machine that played a major role in the politics of 19th century New York City and State. DS, signed “W. M. Tweed,” one page, 8 x 12.75, no date. Tweed, along with 23 others, orders 100 copies of “Hon. John Norton’s speech on the Nebraska Bill.” In very good condition, with a central horizontal fold under Tweed’s signature, scattered toning and soiling, and several pencil notations.
