Politician (1823-1878) most notable for being the ‘boss’ of Tammany Hall, the Democratic Party political machine that played a major role in the politics of 19th century New York City and State. DS, signed “W. M. Tweed,” one page, 8.5 x 9.5, January 12, 1869. Street Commissioner Tweed signs a voucher for payment for storage of lamp posts and parts. In fine condition, with expected folds, punch hole to top left corner, ink stroke through his first initial, and several other signatures and notations.
