<B>William Jennings Bryan Check Signed,</B></I> "<I>W.J. Bryan</B></I>", 3.25" x 7.5", drawn for $500 cash on the Central Bank & Trust Co., Asheville, North Carolina, May 3, 1919. This check is canceled with perforations that do not touch upon the signature. Light aging, one miniscule split along top edge. Good condition. Bryan was the unsuccessful Democratic candidate for U.S. President during the elections of 1896, 1900 and 1908. A devout Presbyterian and a foe of Darwinism, the elderly statesman made his last great public speeches at the Scopes "Monkey Trial" in 1925.
