The first, a letter of introduction: one page, 8" x 10.5", Office of the Civil Governor of the Philippine Islands letterhead, Manila, December 22, 1902, to Lord Curzon. In part, "...This will introduce to your Excellency Professor Bernard Moses of the University of California. Professor Moses is a member of a Commission of eight persons charged with the legislative government of these Islands..." Taft served in this position in the Philippines from 1901 until 1903. Moses was a distinguished educator, a forceful public speaker, and an expert in the field of Spanish-American relations. President McKinley had appointed him to the Philippines Commission in 1900. Lord Curzon was the Viceroy on India from 1899 until 1905. Very Fine condition with mailing folds. <BR><BR>The second letter: one page, 8" x 10.5", Supreme Court of the United States letterhead, Pointe-au-Pic, Canada, August 12, 1926, to a Mr. George E. Thompson, in part, "...in which you offer to me, for $10, a set of 'Officers and Students of Yale College'...I don't care to purchase the set..."
