Scarce manuscript DS, signed “Will Hooper, DAR,” one page both sides, 7 x 11.75, September 5, 1764. Legal document from the Salisbury District of North Carolina, which notes that John Frohock, deputy clerk of the Crown for the Superior Court, "unlawfully and unjustly and extensively did dim and extort and receive and take of and from one Dinah Clark the Sum of Eight pounds five shillings proclamation money of North Carolina for and as his Fees upon a certain Prosecution had by our Sovereign Lord the King against the said Dinah upon a charge of her having murdered her husband which prosecution was carried on at the Superior Court." Signed crisply at the conclusion by Hooper as deputy attorney. Archivally mounted and framed to an overall size of 11 x 15.75; backing features a window for viewing the reverse. In very good to fine condition, with chipping to both edges, and areas of toning to the right edge.
