Historian (1796–1859) who enjoyed a distinguished career despite ill health and partial blindness. ALS signed “W. H. Prescott,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 3.75 x 6, April 26, 1853. Prescott writes to J. Prescott Hall in New York. In part: “I have the pleasure of sending you…an engraving of a portrait taken of me when in London three years since. Richmond, the artist, since my return, has had it engraved, & has sent me a few copies.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
