<B>William Henry Harrison Document Signed as Commander of the Army of the Northwest</B></I> “<I>Willm. Henry Harrison</B></I>”. Two pages, January 13, Upper Sandusky, 1813, Harrison's authorization on recto, receipt on verso. William Henry Harrison (1773-1841), the future 9th President of the United States, authorizes Captain William Piatt, Deputy Quarter Master General, to pay $22.50 to a William Hodge for his services as an express. Harrison was made commander of the Army of the Northwest during the War of 1812 and won victories in Indiana and Ohio before invading Canada. It was during those campaigns in Ohio that Harrison signed the document on offer. Paper toned with age, fold crease down the center of the document, a few small chips at the margins, else very good. <I>From the collection of Henry E.
