Very Rare William Henry Harrison 1840 Campaign Ribbon. White silk ribbon imprinted with black ink, 3" x 5". Headlined "Paxton Straight-Outs", this ribbon features a log cabin and American flag above the slogan, "Buff and Blue, Tough and True, For Tippecanoe." Light aging and wear at top and bottom as expected, else excellent condition. William Henry Harrison's successful run for the presidency was largely due to his use of modern marketing techniques. None were perhaps more effective than his adoption of the log cabin as a logo of sorts. The largely rural American public of 1840 identified with this symbol of humble origins and the pioneer spirit. This ribbon, issued by a Whig organization, is likely from Paxton, Massachusetts.

Shipping: Small Flat (view shipping information)
