Distinguished major general in the Continental Army (1737–1814) who organized and trained the undisciplined forces at Cambridge before the Battle of Bunker Hill. DS, signed “W. Heath,” one page, 8 x 12.75, August 19, 1811. State of Massachusetts probate document appointing a guardian to attend to the affairs of two minors. Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Heath. In very good condition, with scattered light toning and foxing, a couple small separations along horizontal folds, small burn hole to top left, rough right edge, and thin mounting strip along right edge of reverse. The signature itself is bold and mostly unaffected.
