Partly-printed DS as president, signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 16 x 19.5, October 14, 1909. President Taft appoints Walton R. Sexton to be a “Lieutenant Commander in the Navy.” Signed at the conclusion by Taft and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy George von L. Meyer. In fine condition, with a bit of scattered light soiling, mainly to edges. The large blue seal is crisp and intact. Sexton was later promoted to Admiral and served in World War II.
