In full: "<I> Dear Sir, I have received your note of the 23rd, and the accompanying pamphlet, and thank you for the communication. No objection to it's publicity is entertained here. faithfully yours, William H. Seward.</B></I>" together with <B>2).</B></I> LS, Washington, February 15, 1850 acknowledging a courtesy signed and sealed with Seward's bold black "mourning" seal. No relation to Seward's involvement in the Compromise of 1850, but a nice autograph from that fateful year. <B>3).</B></I> Partly Printed Document Signed, as governor of New York appointing Stillwell Smith a Captain in the Army.
