William Faulkner ''Notes on a Horse Thief'' signed. Levee Press: Greenville, Mississippi: 1950. First edition, numbered 244 of 975 copies signed by Faulkner. Here, the southern savant signs ''William Faulkner'' on the limitation page, which appears as the rear endpaper. As the only of Faulkner's works first published in his home state of Mississippi, the novella, a self-described ''tall tale'' by Faulkner, portrays two men and their thieving of a race horse in the South. In original publisher's green cloth with silver titles and decorative stamping. 71pp. hardcover measures 6'' x 9.5'' with very minor rubbing to binding, gutter in front of signed limitation page slightly over-opened, else near fine.
