Original 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo of Cody by Eug. Pirou of Paris (and so noted on the bottom and reverse), of a dapper-looking Cody, signed in fountain pen, “Truly yours, W. F. Cody, Buffalo Bill, Paris 1889.” In fine condition, with a bit of light skipping and irregular ink adhesion to signature and sentiment, and a bit of trivial silvering to a couple darker areas. In April of 1889, Cody brought his Wild West Show to Paris. More than 10,000 people, including the French president, turned out for the opening performance, which also featured the return of Annie Oakley. A distinguished and well preserved example.
