William Dooley Liverpool Marked Cased Pair of Silver Mounted Percussion Pistols -A) Engraved and Sil
A) Produced circa 1836-1864 by William Dooley of Liverpool, England. Bead and notch sights, with the top flat of the barrel marked "DOOLEY. 11 RANELAGH St. LIVERPOOL. The muzzle is decorated with scroll and floral engraving, accented with silver inlays, the head of the swivel ramrod, capbox lid and screws are floral decorated, and the breech, frame, trigger guard, hammer and buttcap show scrollwork with hatched backgrounds. A belt hook is mounted on the left side of the frame, and a safety catch is present on the right. Checkered one piece grip, with a silver inscription plate on the rear, silver wire dot decorations, and the capbox in the butt. In a hardwood case, which has an octagonal brass tag on the lid made out to "WILLm. McINROY ESQr./ LIVERPOOL", a William Dooley paper label on the inside (from the 9 Ranelagh address, active 1864-1865), capbox, powder flask, bullet mold and ramrod.

Condition: Excellent, with 95% of the original high polished blue finish, showing some high edge wear, a brown patina concentrated on the triggerguard, light spotting and some minor handling marks overall. Silver is excellent, with a dark patina visible around the triggerguard and in the protected areas. Grip is excellent, with some minor pressure dents. Case is very good, with some warping of the lid, light cracks and mild handling marks overall. Mechanically excellent.

Condition: Excellent, with 90% of the original high polished blue finish, showing areas of brown patina and scattered light handling marks overall. Silver is very good as gently cleaned, with a darker patina visible in the protected areas. Grips are excellent, with some tiny chips and pressure dents. Mechanically excellent.
