King of the Silent Serials. Starting in dramatic parts, he soon made the transition to westerns and action serials, and became a major western star. With the advent of sound, Desmond was almost 50 years old, and was soon relegated to supporting roles. He continued making films into the 1940s. Debonair vintage sepia matte-finish 7 x 9 photo of Desmond posing in a tuxedo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “For Miller, With a lot of good luck, From Bill Desmond.” Double matted to an overall size of 12 x 16. In fine condition, with silvering to the darker areas of the image.
