American romantic poet, journalist, (1794–1878) who served as the longtime editor of the New York Evening Post. ALS signed “W. C. Bryant,” one page, 5.25 x 8.5, November 10, 1877. Letter to Carl Theodore Eben, in part: "Both the articles referred to in your obliging letter were duly sent me. The manner in which you have spoken of my writing & is only too kind and I am greatly obliged to you making me so favorably known to the German race in the United States." He adds a handwritten and initialed postscript, "P.S. Enclosed is the photograph which you have requested of me. W.C.B." In fine condition, with a lightly trimmed right edge. Accompanied by an engraved portrait bearing a facsimile signature.
