<B>William Cullen Bryant Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> "<I>NW. C. Bryant</B></I>", one page, 4.5" x 7.5", framed with engraved portrait to an overall 15.5" x 12.5", Roslyn, Long Island, New York, July 11, 1877, to J. C. Derby, n.p. It reads, "<I>I can find but one copy of my letter to Mr. Richards and that I wish to keep, though I have a suspicion that there are others among my papers some where. I have copied the letter for you, and send it with this that you may do what seems to you good, with the copy.</B></I>" Bryant (1794 - 1878) was one of 19th century America's most celebrated men of letters. Largely remembered as a poet, he also was deeply involved in promoting Republican politics from the party's beginning. Smoothed folds, very light foxing.
