Highly regarded Irish poet and playwright (1865–1939) recognized as one of the key figures in twentieth-century literature. AQS on an off-white 5 x 3 card. Yeats pens a quote from "Tom O'Roughley": “For Wisdom is a butterfly, And not a gloomy bird of prey. W. B. Yeats, April 20, 1924.” In fine condition, with a couple trivial brushes to signature.
“Tom O’Roughley” was published in 1918 and the aforementioned lines quickly became two of the author’s favorites. Representing the wisdom of age contrasted with youth, the imagery created by these words make for a notably attractive example. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
