Highly regarded Irish poet and playwright (1865–1939) recognized as one of the key figures in twentieth-century literature. Uncommon ALS signed “WB Yeats,” one page, lightly-lined, 8.25 x 5.25, July 15. Letter in Yeats’ difficult to decipher hand to Mr. O’Brien. In part: “I find that I never answered your note of March 15 …to read your translation. This note is merely to say that I have written to the recently published English translation for purposes of confusion I can let you know what I think when it comes.” Matted and framed with a portrait of Yeats to an overall size of 18 x 11.25. In fine condition, with a central vertical fold, a uniform shade of mild toning, and a few light creases. Yeats is scarce in any form, particularly handwritten letters.
