Confederate general (1822–1898) who served under ‘Stonewall’ Jackson and distinguished himself at McDowell and First Winchester. Original carte-de-visite portrait, 2.5 x 4, by Bendann Bros. of Baltimore, signed on the portrait in black ink, “Wm. B. Taliaferro, Major Genl C. S. Army,” and again on the reverse in the same manner. Scattered toning and soiling, a spot of emulsion loss and adhesive remnants to the left border, adhesive remnants and purple pencil notation to reverse, and clipped corners, otherwise very good condition.
