William Ball early American silver hilted and marked Eagle head officer’s sword with fluted whale bone grip wrapped in silver wire showing maker stamp inside of guard, circa about 1810. This maker shows characteristic fat grip and the guard is nicely script engraved with fancy letters and the date 1812. The sword measures 33 1/2” overall with 28 ½” blade. The sword remains in original good to very good condition with some pitting on the blade, some minor marks on the edge and small loss around the tip from battle. The guard and hilt are in very good condition. The whale bone grip shows a couple of cracks and just normal aging. The silver is well preserved and crisp and not rubbed out with a nice patina. Est.: $4,000-$8,000.
