Commodore in the United States Navy best known for his victory over the HMS Java in the War of 1812. Manuscript DS, signed “Wm. Bainbridge,” one page, 13 x 8, July 8, 1829. An accounting regarding the officers sent to the hospital during the second quarter, listing the officers, days in the hospital, number of rations, and total amount of the value of the rations. Boldly signed at the bottom by Bainbridge. In very good condition, with old tape reinforcement on reverse of all three vertical folds, mild toning, and light show-through from docketing on reverse. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
