The full title offers more information on the content of this text: "Battles for the Union: Comprising Descriptions of Many of the Most Stubbornly Contested Battles in the War of the Great Rebellion, Together with Incidents and Reminiscences of the Camp,the March, and the Skirmish Line. Embracing a Record of the Privations, Heroic Deeds, and Glorious Triumphs of the Soldiers of the Republic." In his preface to the text, author Willard Glazier notes: "I have endeavored in this work to present in the most concise and simple form the great contests in the War for the Union. Should my late comrades in arms consider my pictures faithful, I shall feel more than compensated for the effort I have made to commemorate their glorious deeds." Condition / Notes: This volume's boards display some light rubbing and toning, particularly on the back board. The front hinge is weak and partially cracked. The binding and hinges are otherwise secure and intact. Internally, this volume's pages show exceptionally well.
