<Our item number 104048><B>&#40;Indian Trader Peter Bizallion&#41;.</B> Three documents pertaining to famous French Canadian Indian trader and interpreter Peter Bizallion, who was issued a license by the colony of Pennsylvania in 1714 to trade among the Lene Lenape and other Indian tribes. He became quite prosperous and counted influential people such as James Logan, William Penn&#39;s personal secretary, among his friends.<BR><BR>Peter Bizallion&#39;s will, signed on 9 January 1741, in East Caln township, in the County of Chester, 12½x7½&#34;, leaving his worldly goods, including &#34;<I>My Negroes…Betty, Nod, Jo, Nanny, Sir, Judith…& Abigail</I>&#34; to his wife Martha. Witnessed by three men and also signed by Philadelphia lawyer John Ross who declares Bizallion &#34;<I>an Alien Friend</I>&#34; with the right to make a will. Good condition; repairs on verso, edge tears and a 1½&#34; area of paper loss in the text which has been replaced with period paper and penciled notations.
