TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, The American League of Professional Baseball Clubs letterhead, July 1, 1947. Letter to Paul Schreiber of the Boston Base Ball Club. In part: “As you will note by the attached bulletin, Joe Cronin, who will manage the American League All-Star team, has selected you as his batting practice pitcher. The game will be played at Wrigley Field, Chicago…The American League will be the Road Team and players have been requested to bring with them their road uniforms bearing club number. Joe Cronin has asked that members of the team meet with him at Wrigley Field at eleven-thirty Tuesday morning.” A rusty paperclip impression to the top and a bit of other scattered staining, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and a press release issued by the American League listing the roster of their All-Star team. Schreiber had a stint in the Major Leagues as a pitcher and went on to coach for the Boston Red Sox for 13 seasons, from 1946 to 1958.
