Will Eisner Studio (with Lou Fine) - The Spirit, ""Pink Elephants,"" page 6 Original Art, dated 9-6-42 (Des Moines Register and Tribune Syndicate, 1942). Will Eisner was that rarest of comics creators -- in addition to being a superb writer and artist, he was also an astute business man, a talent scout, and a comic shop director. Eisner always staffed his shop with the comics industry's top talents, including artists such as Lou Fine, Bob Powell, Chuck Mazoujian, Jack Cole, and Alex Kotzky. Will Eisner was inducted into the Army in May, 1942, and eventually he was transferred to the Pentagon where he went on to pioneer a series of educational comics and teaching aids. As noted in " "The Will Eisner Companion, ""Lou Fine was one of the assistants in Eisner's studio who worked on The Spirit, playing a particularly prominent role as artist and, for many of the stories while Eisner was in the army from 1942 to 1945, sometimes writing as well."" Most of the major players in the Spirit feature put in an appearance on this page -- Ebony White, Ellen Dolan, Commissioner Dolan, and of course, the Spirit himself. This page also features the humor and slam-bang action that were hallmarks of the strip. The page has an image area of 11.25"" x 15.75"", and the art is in Excellent condition.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour.
