Wilkinson Made Grenadier Guards Sword

Estimate: $1300 - 1500
Tracing their linage back to the bodyguards of Charles II in 1656, the Grenadier Guards earned their title via royal proclamation after facing down and defeating the Grenadiers of Napoleon's Imperial Guard at Waterloo. Measuring 38 3/4 inches overall with a straight, single fuller, 33 inch blade, marked "MADE IN ENGLAND" and "67769" upon the spine, with the makers marks of Wilkinson Sword on the right ricasso. Etched panels are present on each side bearing a multitude of battle honors running clear into the First World War, in addition to the cipher of George VI and the Grenadier's lit bomb symbol. The lit bomb is repeated on the cut-through guard with floral accents, a checkered back strap and a wire wrapped sharkskin grip. With a nickel finished sheath.
