German chemist (1853–1932) who won the 1909 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on catalysis, chemical equilibria, and reaction velocities. AQS, in German, signed “W. Ostwald,” on a 6.5 x 8.25 off-white album page. Oswald writes: “The formula of Dissipations of energy is the physical basis of ethics.” Page is also signed by three others: Arthur Drews, Max Maurenbrecher, and Cäsar Flaischlen, who signs on an affixed off-white card. In very good condition, with scattered toning and soiling, tape along left edge, and some scattered light creases.
