Pilot Wiley Post (1898–1935), accompanied by navigator Harold Gatty (1903–1957), set the speed record for around-the-world flight during a trip aboard the Winnie Mae completed on July 1, 1931. Post later became the first pilot to circle the globe solo. He died, along with humorist Will Rogers, when a plane he was piloting crashed during takeoff from a lagoon near Point Barrow, Alaska. Desirable flown airmail cover carried on the record-breaking "Round the World Flight of the 'Winnie Mae'" in 1931, bearing six postal cancellations, signed in the upper left corner by Wiley Post as the pilot and Harold Gatty as the navigator. Includes twelve original vintage photographs related to Post, including those of the Winnie Mae, Post and Gatty, and Post in his pressure suit for an altitude record attempt, ranging in size from 5 x 7 to 6.5 x 8.5. In overall very good to fine condition.
