<B>Widekum (Cameroon), Cross River Region</B></I><BR>Semi-helmet Mask, <I>Agwe Chaka</B></I><BR>Height: 21 inches Width: 12 ¼ inches Depth: 10 inches<BR><BR>Similar to the above lot, this mask, however, has a front-to-back haircrest that continues down the forehead, and square open eyes as well as pronounced, carefully rendered teeth in its rectangular open mouth. The brow is low, pronounced, and undercut. There is a fine patina<BR><BR><I>Agwe Chaka</B></I> masks were formerly danced by members of a warrior society, and more recently to commemorate the lives of its members at their funerals.<BR><BR>There are a few small loses and edge lifts to the skin covering. Otherwise, the condition is good.<BR><BR>Provenance: H.
