<B>Whooping Crane Audubon Royal Octavo Print.</B></I> Plate number 314 highlights the Whooping Crane. A young crane is shown walking along a marshy landscape and others can be seen in background. Its red crown is just becoming visible, and the light blue-grey tones on its body are very delicate and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Six full pages of text accompany this lot, which give numerous facts and observations made by Audubon on this species. The whooping crane is the largest crane species in North America and one of just a few species that are only found here. The print is in excellent shape, the holes from being unbound are on the left edge, two small pieces of tape are present on the verso from an earlier mounting.
