Whitney 1861 Navy percussion rifle, .69 cal., 34” round barrel, #610 marked on top tang. This gun is in overall good condition showing a dark brown patina on metal surfaces with some moderate old pitting around the top of the barrel, on the bolster and on the front part of the lock plate; the US and eagle are clearly visible on the lockplate as is the date 1864; the action is good, the bore is fair; all mounts are iron and the wood is in very good condition showing a strong remnant of an inspector’s cartouche on the left side of the stock above the trigger guard. The iron ramrod is present and the front of the barrel has a bayonet lug on its right side. Est.: $1,250-$2,500.
