Elegant carving with a fine floral relief

This Chinese vase with lid was made of white jade and has a shape in the form of hu-vessels. The slim vase stands on an oval base rim and forms a flattened body with accentuated shoulders and a narrow neck. The latter is flanked on the sides by two florally designed ring handles where free hanging elements can be found. The wall is embellished on both sides with a fine floral relief of irises and peonies. The vase can be closed through a matching lid. The jade has an almost pure white color of high translucency.



The vase with lid is in good condition with only a few signs of age and wear such as a chip at the mouth rim. The height with lid measures 15.5 cm and the width is 7 cm.
